You don’t need a lot of money to become a homeowner. Simply check the USDA loan eligibility, use your savings, and get a house that you can rent out if not live in.

Located between Canada and the Atlantic Ocean, Maine has everything to keep visitors entertained, from remote beaches to peaceful mountain scenery, including lively nightlife spots and excellent shopping options.

The nearest international airport is located in Boston, which is linked to Maine through buses, trains, and planes. British travellers can find excellent deals to Boston using Dealchecker. Return fares to Boston can be found for as little as £450, but it also offers fantastic discounts on hotel rates, car rental, and package holidays.
Where to go in Maine
Maine’s largest city is Portland, a pleasant city by the seaside. Portland is known for its Victorian architecture and for its parks and gardens. Families with children are well catered for with the Children’s Museum and the numerous child-friendly outdoor areas. During the summer season, ferries shuttle passengers between the city and nearby Bailey island, which makes for an interesting day trip out of Portland.
Nature lovers should not miss Acadia National Park, which has over 47,000 acres of pristine natural scenery. It is also possible to take a hiking holiday in Maine, as the estate is criss-crossed by the Appalachian Scenic Trail.
Camden, in central Maine, is the perfect destination to get a glimpse of what a traditional New England town looks like. The town is nestled among the nearby hills and the bay, where boats can be hired for a day out at sea. The waterfront is dotted with boutiques and seafront restaurants. Camden is in the area known as the Mid Coast, known for its quaint fishing villages and its dramatic seaside scenery. There are also a few vineyards in the area that offer guided tours and wine tastings.
Some of the beers produced in Maine are among the country’s best. A holiday in Maine would not be complete without taking a guided tour through one of the many local breweries. Portland is home to at least six breweries, but there are others in the university town of Bangor and in Bar Harbor, in the eastern coast of the state.
The best time to visit Maine will very much depend on the type of holiday that you are looking for. However, the autumn is a great time to visit, as the coastal towns are not so crowded and the mountain areas become covered in a spectacular blanket of colourful leaves.
Lastly, visitors must remember that the network of public transportation is not all that extensive in Maine, so it is recommendable to rent a car to get around the state comfortably.
