A
MAINE GUIDE to
downhill skiing & snowboarding
State of Maine
Hit
the trails at one of Maine's nineteen downhill ski areas and enjoy
the state's unsurpassed big mountain beauty! Maine's numerous mountains
provide alpine skiiers and snowboarders with some of the most challenging
trails and best snow conditions in the northeastern U.S. Terrains
vary from easy, gentle beginner trails to intermediate and very
steep advanced slopes. Trails are long and well groomed, yet lift
lines are usually shorter than those of Vermont and New Hampshire,
giving skiiers more runs per day and more value for the dollar.
Maine averages about 200 inches of snowfall annually, and most ski
areas and resorts are well equipped with the latest snow-making
equipment, providing the very best conditions possible based on
weather and temperature. Maine's ski season usually runs from late
November to mid April, weather permitting.
