Heartwood College of Art in Maine: American artists have always been drawn to Maine. Maine's light, the sea, and country living touch the aesthetic in all of us. This beautiful part of the world, minutes east of unspoiled mountains and minutes west of undisturbed beaches soothes the soul. The Mission of Heartwood College of Art is to educate and inspire our students and evoke a passion for visual arts. Heartwood College of Art is a small, close-knit community of talented artists - faculty and students. Class size is limited to ten students, allowing the instructor to develop a rapport with and offer individual guidance to each student. The faculty is our best asset, comprised of some of Maine's finest professional artists. The facility is state-of-the-art with fully equipped studios, a "gem of an art gallery", library and student computer center. Heartwood College of Art offers Associates and Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs, a Certificate of Art program and community art classes. The three areas of concentration for degree and certificate students are: (I) Fine Arts: Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking; (II) Design & Crafts: Ceramics, Weaving, Jewelry, and Metals; (III) Photography. Heartwood has many other offerings including monthly art exhibits, guest workshops lectures and films, summer children's theater, craft fairs and other special events.
