Charming 1864 Victorian Bed & Breakfast Inn with modern amenities in Bar Harbor, Maine: Named Mira Monte (behold the mountains) in 1892 by its wealthy Philadelphia owners, the inn nestles on two acres of landscaped grounds and is graced by bay windows, private balconies and a beautiful wrap-around front porch. A love of style and beauty is evidenced by the grounds – paved terraces, sweeping lawns, private informal spaces and formal gardens. Inside, guests may relax by a glowing fire in the parlor, library, or the screened breakfast porch. Guests are encouraged to play the excellent piano in the library. There is covered bike storage and ample off-street parking. All 13 guestrooms have private baths, (some with whirlpools), queen or king-sized beds, A/C, TV, phones with answering machine, clock radios and high speed broad-band data ports. Some also have VCR, robes, and CD player; all have fireplaces and/or private balconies; all feature antiques and period furnishings accented by lace curtains and reproduction wallpapers – helping to recreate the magic of yesteryear. Three suites have kitchens in addition to other amenities. At the full-breakfast buffet in the formal dining room (8-10AM) and the wine/cheese social (5-7PM), pick up tips from other guests or from the friendly staff about good choices for your day’s activities or for dining.
