The State Route 27 Byway begins in Kingfield, and winds along the Carrabassett River, roffering views of Mount Abraham and the Bigelow Range, as well as Sugarloaf USA Ski Resort. North of Stratton, the route passes Flagstaff Lake and through the Cathedral Pines in Eustis, continuing northward through the Chain of Ponds and climbing up the Boundary Mountains to Coburn Gore and the Canadian border. The byway offers beautiful views of fall foliage in late September and early October, Moose can often be spotted along the route. |
