    Spring Festival is our way of celebrating the warmer weather while the spring skiing is absolutely phenomenal. With beautiful spring weather, plenty of snow, and staple events like the Margarita Mix-Off, Slip 'n' Flip, and live bands, this is not a weekend to miss. All events for this weekend will take place slopeside at White Cap and in White Cap Lodge.     The Annual Fiddlehead Festival and Local Foods Day features numerous local farmers, vendors of local food based lunches, book sellers, and informational tables. Children, college students, and adults can hear local bands including the popular Franklin County Fiddlers, and admired the talents of local belly dancers! There are talks on bread-making, raising dairy goats, constructing hoop tunnels, fearless pressure canning, and the safe harvesting and handling of fiddleheads, among others. Children will enjoy well-supervised games and crafts, revel in the opportunity for close contact with baby farm animals, and climbing on antique tractors. Event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    The Margaretta Days Festival celebrates the American Revolution Downeast, specifically the Battle of the Margaretta, the first Naval Battle of the American Revolution, the beginning of the US Merchant Marines, and the Battle of the Rim. This annual festival in Machias, Maine was named one of Yankee Magazine's 2010 Top 20 Events which encourages everyone to enjoy travellng back in time to life in 1775. It's a lot of fun with a bit of history thrown in. Fun and educational, parade, encampment of period soldiers and Passamaquoddies. Demonstrations (black smith, timber framing, weaving, fur trappers, etc.) antler toss, children's area, music, storytelling, food, prizes and local crafters. Free admission.

    In a day-long celebration on Gardiner's Historic Water Street and beautiful Waterfront Park, Gardiner Main Street, Gardiner Rotary, and Johnson Hall present live music and entertainment on three stages, a craft fair, and activities for all ages on and near the Kennebec River, with fireworks in the evening. The event is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the area. The event kicks off of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce's annual summer celebration of our riverfront communitites, affectionately known as the "Whatever" Family Festival. Greater Gardiner River Festival activities run from about 9 a.m. until about 11 p.m.

    The Annual Kittery Block Party features artisans, artists, non-profits, area farmers, and restaurants - with a strong emphasis on "local."     Don't miss one of the largest Civil War Reenactments in Maine featuring a wide variety of living history demonstrations, exhibits, and engaging activities remembering the activities of the Civil War. The event is organized by the 3rd Maine Company A and 15th Alabama Company G to benefit Maine's oldest living history farm and museum. Union and Confederate military and civilian re-enactors from across New England will be camped on the grounds. The event features a full-scale battle scenario complete with artillery fire, the "town of Unity" civilian camp, farm-life living history in Norlands Washburn mansion, one-room schoolhouse, and farmer's cottage, blacksmiths, horse-drawn wagon rides, a Victorian fashion show, and more.     The Windjammer Days Festival celebrates and honors a time before there were planes, trains, and automobiles and sailing ships were the best way to travel the world or transport goods long distances. Windjammers were the grandest of the merchant ships from the era, enormous sailing boats with several large masts designed to carry massive amounts of cargo from one continent to another. For centuries, the Boothbay Harbor Region has been a center of American shipping and shipbuilding, its harbor graced by elegant Windjammers as well as other commercial pleasure ships. Participate in a grand sail parade through picturesque Boothbay Harbor. Extra time ashore to explore the town and enjoy concerts, crafts, street parade, music and more. Fireworks!
