    The Windjammer Days Festival celebrates and honors a time before there were planes, trains, and automobiles and sailing ships were the best way to travel the world or transport goods long distances. Windjammers were the grandest of the merchant ships from the era, enormous sailing boats with several large masts designed to carry massive amounts of cargo from one continent to another. For centuries, the Boothbay Harbor Region has been a center of American shipping and shipbuilding, its harbor graced by elegant Windjammers as well as other commercial pleasure ships.     Since 1977 every July the small town of Hiram Maine comes alive in preparation for The Ossipee Valley Fair. The Ossipee Valley Fair is by no means the largest agricultural fair in the state but it is undoubtably the friendliest. Come join us for four days of amusement rides, live stock shows, 4X4 drag races and of course plenty of fried food. All amusement rides are included free with admission.     Arts in the Park is one of the most respected fine arts and crafts festivals in Midcoast Maine. The venue is undeniably beautiful: set on the water's edge, right downtown, with sailboats and dinghies moored a few feet away.     Every year on the fourth Saturday in July, the Wiscasset Common comes alive with the activities of Summerfest. Music by a ragtime band, a Scottish piper, a barbershop quartet or a guitar-playing college student may fill the air. Crafts made by the Organ Society ladies are for sale as well as jumbles, treasures, plants, baked goods, wood products and toys. The Uncommon Cafe serves hamburgers, hotdogs and sandwiches. Children's events and the annual dog show and parade round out the day's activities. The First Congregational Church's Summerfest began as an all-church affair in 1983, following many years as an annual summer fair held by the Ladies' Organ Society. Proceeds of the fair are donated to local outreach organizations at a special Sunday in October set aside for the presentations.

    It's time for the Eliot Antique Tractor and Engine Show at the Raitt Homestead Farm Museum. The place "Where Tractors and Engines Meet." This is the largest fundraiser for the Raitt Homestead Farm Museum and raises funds to continue the preservation of the 33 acre circa 1800's dairy farm. The event brings a large assortment of Tractors, Engines and farming displays to the beautiful farm and open pastures. This event attracts hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of spectators each year and should not be missed. Families can spend the entire day at the farm enjoying a variety of events from the Auction and Pasta dinner on Friday night to the Ladies Skillet Toss, Kids Pedal Pull, live entertainment, tractor parades, crafters, barrel tractor rides, face painting, Kids Korner, Colonial Encampment and three different kinds of tractor pulling throughout the weekend.
