    The Boothbay Railway Village invites families to celebrate the bounty of autumn at an old-fashioned, family-friendly festival, Family Harvest Days. Perfect for families who want an alternative to the big fairs and commercial midways, there will be displays of antique tractors, barrel train rides, farm animals and much more. Watch a butter churning demonstration and then taste the fresh butter on New England brown bread baked according to a 100 year old recipe. See how Dutch ovens were used for baking and cooking over open fires and in hearths. There will also be complimentary cider and homemade cookies. Visitors can say hello to the Museum's pair of resident goats as well as some special guests. Wishing Well Acres of Edgecomb, Maine will be bringing barnyard animals like sheep and chickens. You'll be able to meet the farmers and learn about how they take care of the animals today as well as what it would have been like to keep animals for families living in Maine villages historically. Guests are invited to take a hayride to a pumpkin patch where for a small additional fee you can take home your own pumpkin. A decorating station will also be provided. Admission is free for Museum Members and included with Museum Admission for non-members. Event is on Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Join us on our oceanfront nonprofit farm as we celebrate sustainable agriculture and the bounty of autumn in Maine! This wholesome family festival features activities and demonstrations, live music, haybale climbing, face painting, animal interactions, tasty local food and more. We run our Pumpkin Hayrides during the festival - take a tractor ride out to our pumpkin patch and pick your favorite pumpkin (hayride free with admission; small pumpkins cost $3). Admission is $8/person, ages 3 and under free. Pumpkins cost $3 to $10. Cash is recommended for food and pumpkin purchases (there is no ATM on premises). Free, traditional craft demonstrations include Shaker-style broom making by Kent Ruesswick, wool carding, spinning, knitting, and weaving by the R and R Spinners, rug hooking by Parris House Wool Works, blacksmithing by Tim Greene, weaving by Marjie Thompson, wood-turning by Peter Asselyn, and wood-carving by the Poland Woodcarvers. Books signing by Don Perkins, Barns of Maine, and Chris Becksvoort, The Shaker Legacy. Free wagon rides will be offered throughout the day. Free face painting for kids along with free gourd decorating! Rain or shine, all above activities will be in the Shakers' historic 1830 barns. Event is free from 10 a.m. from 3:30 p.m.

The beautiful crafts are center stage on the Village Green surrounded by the historic buildings and structures of the Boothbay Railway Village. Rides on the narrow gauge steam train and the opportunity for guests to explore exhibits detailing Maine's railroad heritage, interpreting village life, and displaying more than 60 antique automobiles set this event apart. Artisan demonstrations, live music and a children's corner adds to the fun of this family tradition. There is also a Pumpkin Carving Contest with categories for kids, adults and professional artists! Event hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
