    Cabin Fever Reliever Living History Day at Washburn-Norlands. Old Time Fun and A Celebration of President and #39;sDay, 1870-style. Horse-drawn sleigh rides, craft activities, one-room schoolhouse, mansion tours, and a special tribute to George Washington. Stop by for some old-time fun and a belated celebration for Presidents Day. Meet the neighbors and make new friends. Activities are provided by interpreters in period clothing portraying people of the 1800 and #39;s Norlands neighborhood or members of the original Livermore Washburn family. A light soup luncheon, cookies and hot chocolate will warm you up in the farmer and #39;s cottage, while supplies last. General admission is $10/adults, $6/ages 12 and under. Members of Norlands enjoy a 20% discount on admission. Upon arrival, park by the church and walk up to towards the mansion. Purchase admission tickets in the gift shop. In case of bad weather, the event will be canceled. On the morning of the event please call ahead or check the Norlands and #39; Facebook page. Event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    The Irish American Club is excited to once again honor our Patron Saint and the Irish American community in Greater Portland as we host the 2017 St. Patrick's Parade to celebrate our Irish heritage, culture and traditions on March 12, 2017. As usual Pipe Bands, dignitaries and the flags of all the counties of Ireland will be on display on Commercial Street, starting at noon, but getting ready at 11 a.m., and then the parade goes to over to the Franklin Arterial. The Festival leads up to Maine Maple Sunday where sugarhouses around the state open their doors to the public offering free maple syrup samples and demonstrations on how pure Maine maple syrup is made.     Spring Festival is our way of celebrating the warmer weather while the spring skiing is absolutely phenomenal. With beautiful spring weather, plenty of snow, and staple events like the Margarita Mix-Off, Slip 'n' Flip, and live bands, this is not a weekend to miss. All events for this weekend will take place slopeside at White Cap and in White Cap Lodge. Children, college students, and adults can hear local bands including the popular Franklin County Fiddlers, and admired the talents of local belly dancers! There are talks on bread-making, raising dairy goats, constructing hoop tunnels, fearless pressure canning, and the safe harvesting and handling of fiddleheads, among others. Children will enjoy well-supervised games and crafts, revel in the opportunity for close contact with baby farm animals, and climbing on antique tractors. Event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
